A chartered accountant by background, Kate trained and worked with PwC. She subsequently had a varied career spanning almost 40 years, primarily in financial services, with senior roles at Skipton Building Society, First Direct, AXA healthcare, Lloyds Banking Group and Engage Mutual Assurance.

Kate is a big supporter of the mutual sector and is also Vice Chair and Senior Independent Director at Darlington Building Society.
